Project overview
A client in the wellness and self-development space asked me to create a custom undated planner template, designed to support users in their daily motivation, emotional balance, and personal growth.
The goal was to offer a flexible, inspiring, and easy-to-use tool that can be personalized for various audiences—particularly individuals focused on healing, mindfulness, and achieving their goals.
Goals:
- Design the most essential planner pages (daily, weekly, monthly layouts)
- Create templates that can suit different life situations and emotional journeys
- Keep the design clean, calming, and adaptable, while leaving space for personal reflection
Difficulties:
- The end users may vary widely in their needs, routines, and emotional states
- Each person or brand may require specific adjustments depending on their focus (e.g., mental health, productivity, or spiritual growth)

The design process
During the ideation phase of the project, I prepared with the client how they visualize the planner and the sections that should be in it. Once I determinate the best sections to design I started writing them down and sketching some ideas of the layout on paper.

And I soon started to design the elements on InDesign.

Challenges
At first, I designed 31 days for each month, thinking it was fine. But while working on the planner in InDesign, I realized that with an undated calendar, there need to be 37 blank day slots instead of 31 if we want to keep Saturday and Sunday on the left (which is the most common layout). This applies when a month has 31 days and starts on a Sunday.
This error reminds me that I need to test my design beforehand, two or three times.
Unfortunately it delayed the delivery schedule a little bit, but the client was happy that I caught the mistake in time, before finalizing and printing the planner.
